It appears that VW have just bought Oxford Circus. The entire eastbound Central Line platform has been turned into a hand drawn history of the automobile, with 13 or so billboards and several animated projections. Looks like someone is trying to make an impact.
Which is lovely, but I’m not convinced this works as a branding exercise. There’s a real coherence between all the adverts (it looks quite pretty, almost in the category of Tube art) but it if you don’t know what a blue motion is you might not make a connection with VW. There’s only one logo on the entire platform, hidden at the far end.. If you want people to remember you, why not tell them who you are?
